After a Long Hiatus

Phew!
Was looking back at my previous blog.. time really swooshed past.
Prayers answered, i got a job in a bookstore. A big one.
But it's an uphill task. It's not easy; at many a times, the urge of just letting go, throwing in the towel, is very real.
So many bosses, so little time.. No life.
All the things I could ever complain of can be found here.
But wait. It was just what i needed - growth. In verbal communication, interpersonal skills, initiative.
Already almost 5 months into my 1-yr contract.. another 1 month, and it's be 1/2 year.
Thinking back, i'd planned to give up in the 1st week. Kinda glad that I didn't.

On another note, to talk about my emotional life.
Been catching up with people whom i know from my student days - CCA friends, primary school friends, secondary school friends. Glad to see them at different stages of their lives now. My neighbour, who's the same age as me, is already a proud father.
Interacting with people in the workplace gives me a sense of rootedness, yet it is a very real trap. It could lure me away, from my principles, my goals. So I've gotta be more careful..
Hopefully, I'll think of what else to do this year.. Feel that people do change over time, myself included. Is it for better, or worse? I can
t say for sure. I've slid, and crawling back carefully now. My past experiences will continue to shape me into the person i will be tomorrow.
As for the future, the 1 year target will be reached in Aug.. hopefully things will change. I wanna see a different Me from then on...

Melissa is currently jobless..!!
Hoping to get a job in Publishing or Bookstores or Library..
Publishing because I can get be more exposed to learning things relating to publishing such as banners, namecards, newsletters, magazines. Can "learn" design as well.
Bookstores because I simply love books!
Had already submitted my resume to Kinokuniya..
Will try more avenues for jobs.. It's not easy..

This is what has been going on in Mel's life for the past few months.
(Realised that I've been M.I.A for *gasp* 5 months!)
1.Work
2.Church
3.Work
4.Movies
5.Ministry, and so the cycle goes.
I realised I yearn to go back to my student days.. at least it's MUCH MORE FUN!!!
Working life has been bearable.
But I'm not living out my dreams, passions (which is...?)
- Dun ask me..
All I know that this is not THE life I'm asking for.

Recently realised that my greatest weakness is face & skincare products.
As long as I step into a pharmacy like Watson's or Guardian, there no stopping me!
Muhahaha.. L'oreal, MayBelline, Olay,... I miss you like crazy!
^_^ Mel can think 1/2 a day about spending more than $3 on a meal, but will not even bat an eyelash when buying $50 worth of L'oreal at one go.
Women have one perfect excuse for buying such things - It's a long-term investment; even though the wallet gets thinner, but the face will look younger! (Auntiehood is beckoning...)
And who's that genius who coined the term "Retail therapy"?
Simply explained, you'll begin to feel better when money is being spent in return for goods that you can indulge in.

This week, I've just begun to slow down ever since the start of the new year (2006).
Started a few new habits, like writing down my daily expenditure on a notebook.
More things to anticipate...
